She Can Spy On Me Anytime

As the release date for Iron Man 2 approaches (it’s scheduled to hit theaters on May 7 of next year), stills from the upcoming big-budget sequel are starting to filter out.

One that caught my eye immediately was that of Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.

Oh, my — does she look the part.  I’m not 100% convinced that she’s going to be able to pull off the savvy, sophisticated, experienced and mature attitude that the Black Widow exudes on the written page, but if nothing else, they’ve got the look of the character dead-on.

I’m not sure how this sequel will turn out — as a rule, the more characters a studio tries to fit into the comic-book film, the worse it turns out (see: Batman and Robin), but after his initial effort, I have faith in Jon Favreau.  I don’t see a lot of movies in the theater, and even fewer on their opening weekends, but this is one I’ll be in line to see as soon as it’s released.

Plus, with Iron Man 2 completed, we’re one step closer to the Avengers movie with this release.  Next up:   Thor (which is being helmed by a respected Oscar-nominee director in Kenneth Branagh) and then, Captain America!

And no, I still don’t have my Avengers #4 or Tales of Suspense #52 yet.   But there’s always hope for getting either for Christmas …
